Strategic location

Located in South-western Europe (the Balkan Peninsula), Bulgaria enjoys a key geographical and economic position, which bridges trade between the Middle East, Asia, and Europe. Bulgaria borders Romania to the north, with the Danube River running along the entire border. The important riverports of Vidin and Ruse enable the connection with Western European countries. The Black Sea is on the eastern border of Bulgaria, with two major port cities(Varna and Bourgas), which ensure the waterway connection with The Bosporus, The Dardanelles, and the Middle East. To the south, Bulgaria borders Greece and Turkey, with an outlet on the Aegean Sea in close proximity.
